3 large, sweet apples (like Fuji, Gala, or Honeycrisp)

Easy Unsweetened Applesauce

Gather ingredients. 

To make the applesauce:  Peel, core and dice the apples.  Place into a medium pot with 1 cup of water.  Cover and bring to a simmer.

Simmer for 10 minutes, or until apples are tender.  Mash with a potato masher or sturdy spoon.  For a smoother consistency, puree using a blender.

Serve and enjoy.

Chef's Tip: You can use this method as a base for also making "pear" sauce, "peach" sauce, or even a strawberry-apple blend.  Feel free to add 1/2 tsp. of spices (like cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, or clove) to add different flavor twists.

Yields: About 3 cups
